At the Acts 29 Midwest Quarterly Regional (Held May 2011 in St. Louis), Caesar Kalinowski spoke on three different topics: The Power and Purpose of the Gospel; Gospel Motivation & The Discipleship Environment.
Session 1: The Power and Purpose of the Gospel
Often we teach the power of the gospel without ever teaching that the gospel also has a purpose for our lives. When we don't preach both perspectives of the gospel, we are in danger of proclaiming a distorted gospel.
Session 2: Gospel Motivation
How do we motivate our people, and ourselves, to live lives that get, and consistently stay on mission? We'll look at gospel motivation versus legalistic "stick and carrot" methods that ultimately fail and burn our people out.
Session 3: The Discipleship Environment
Discipleship isn't merely a Sunday school class to attend or curriculum to be discussed or a smorgasbord of programs offered by a church. Those structures may teach what Jesus commanded, but alone they don’t create an environment where people learn to obey what Jesus commanded. A gospel-centered community on Jesus’ mission must be the context for discipleship. We'll explore 10 necessary aspects of an effective discipleship environment.
